Sir Robert Nicholls (1899-1970) was an Australian politician elected to the Parliament of South Australia in 1915, and was Speaker of the House of Assembly 1933-1956.
The Nicholls Collection was presented to the Library by the family of Sir Robert Nicholls. It comprises of around 6 metres of shelves of both published and manuscript material, which are mostly of South Australian interest. They are bound volumes of newspaper clippings, programs, letters, electoral notices, personal memorabilia (including birth and marriage certificates); photographs, typescript synopsis of proceedings of Parliament, other Parliamentary publications, hundreds of pamphlets and reprints, and phonograph records. They range between the years 1899 and 1956.
