OpenAthens is an identity and access management service which provides access to online resources via the Library, FLO, and reading lists.
If you're attempting to log in to a resource and you encounter a message such as Authenticate via your Institution, Login with OpenAthens or Access via your university, choose the option Flinders University online resources. You will then be prompted to log in with your FAN. You will only have to log in again after 8 hours of inactivity.
The OpenAthens link generator tool creates a link (or up to 50 links) to online resources that will log students and staff into the Library subscription.
OpenAthens is more secure and reliable, and allows you to access subscribed content no matter where you start your search. It will allow you to move from resource to resource much faster.
Bookmarked links and links in course materials with the proxy prefix ezproxy.flinders.edu.au will no longer work. Options for staff who come across this issue are:
Move these resources into your topic’s Readings list and we will correct these on your behalf. Refer to the instructions for adding resources to Readings lists.
If you have bookmarked links to subscription resources, you can update these using the link generator tool.
If you are accessing resources via findit@flinders or the Library’s eResources A-Z list, you will not need to make any changes.
The OpenAthens logo below can be dragged to your browser's bookmarks bar to quickly access library resources via OpenAthens.
To use the bookmarklet, navigate to the resource you want to use and click on the bookmarklet. If you're not already logged in, you'll be prompted to log in with your FAN.
