The Peake Collection was donated to the Library by Andrew Guy Peake in 2013. The collection contains material relating to his time as a hostage in Iraq from August to December 1990. Peake was on the BA 149 flight from London to Madras which stopped to refuel in Kuwait hours after Iraqi troops had invaded the country. Peake was transferred to Iraq where he remained as a "guest of the president" until he was allowed to return to Adelaide in early December. The collection includes magazine and newspaper articles, correspondence, press releases, Iraqi propaganda, Senate Hansard transcripts, along with audio and video recordings of the press coverage. The collection also includes Peake's diary which he kept during this period and drafts of his publication Guest of the President which was based on the diary.
