Eleanor M. Yelland (1911-1997) was a keen historical researcher and author of several publications.
Ms Yelland was born and educated in Victoria, the daughter of a pioneering family, and developed a great interest in Australian history. In 1973 she married noted South Australian historian Keith Travers Borrow (1917-2005), and their collections of books and papers are held together in Special Collections.
The Yelland collection is included within the Borrow Collection. Borrow had a life-long interest in the early history of European settlement in South Australia and was the president of the Pioneers' Association for many years.
Yelland's publications include Colonists, Copper & Corn in the Colony of South Australia 1850-1851 (as editor) and Henry Jones, esq., J.P. (1799-1889), South Australian pastoralist and pioneer. The Yelland book collection includes publications on Australian history and European arts and crafts.
