Narrated Aaron Pedersen introduces Paramedic Trainee, Gemma Armit, Midwife, Margaret Martin, and Emergency Rescue Officer Patrick Martin, a new breed of Indigenous health care professionals working on the frontline of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health. Episode one includes real emergencies from the discovery of a semiconscious man found on the side of the road, an over water helicopter rescue and a mother in active labour with a baby in distress.
Continuing on from episode one Margaret the midwife must move quickly to protect mother and child, Patrick the Emergency rescue Officer is called to transport a critically ill patient to Cairns and Gemma (Paramedic Trainee) attends an assault in an at times dangerous neighbourhood at 2am. Three new characters are introduced Dr Sarah working in the emergency department, remote Aboriginal Health Worker, Stanley and Sports Massage Therapist Jeremy.
The series come to a climatic resolution as each of our Indigenous health workers reflect on their own lives and personal journeys.
