A bibliographic database that indexes published and unpublished material on Australian Indigenous health. Includes theses, government reports, conference papers, abstracts, books, statistical documents. Coverage: 1990 – present.

Australian Indigenous HealthInfoNet

The Australian Indigenous HealthInfoNet is an innovative Internet resource that aims to inform practice and policy in Indigenous health by making research and other knowledge readily accessible. In this way, we contribute to 'closing the gap' in health between Indigenous and other Australians.

Informit Indigenous Peoples Collection

A collection of 12 index, abstract and full-text databases focusing on a broad range of subjects relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The Lowitja Institute's LIt.search 

A one-click, evidence-based search filter for identifying the research on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health research available in PubMed. Use LIt.search to:

  • see what's been published on the health of Indigenous Australians in major biomedical journals
  • search one of 27 pre-arranged topics (e.g. governance, ear health, or social determinants)

Aboriginal Health Council of South Australia Inc.

The Aboriginal Health Council of South Australia (AHCSA) is the health voice for Aboriginal peoples across South Australia representing the expertise, needs and aspirations of Aboriginal communities at both state and national levels based on a holistic perspective of health.

AIATSIS (Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders Studies)

AIATSIS undertakes and encourages scholarly, ethical community-based research. It provides information and research about the cultures and lifestyles of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, past and present. AIATSIS is the custodial for a large priceless collection of audio-visual and printed material.

Australian Government Department of Health - Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health

The Department of Health works in conjunction with other Government Departments, including the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet to improve the health of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. This site provides links and information related to government initiatives.

Congress of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Nurses and Midwives (CATSINaM)

The Congress of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Nurses and Midwives (CATSINaM) is the sole representative body for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander nurses and midwives in Australia. CATSINaM’s primary function is to implement strategies to increase the recruitment and retention of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples into nursing and midwifery professions.

The Lowitja Institute

Australia's National Institute for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Research established in 2010 from a number of Cooperative Research Centres funded by the Australian Government. The Institute works in partnership with other bodies to improve the health of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Specializes in Indigenous and tropical health research in more than 60 Indigenous communities across Australia and in neighboring developing countries.

Oxfam Australia - Indigenous Australia

Oxfam Australia works hand-in-hand with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to develop solutions and innovative answers to the problems they face. Assisting with the self-determination of individuals and communities for more than 30 years by making sure individuals and communities can improve their own social, cultural and physical well-being in the ways that they identify.

I Heart My People (Episode 1)

Narrated Aaron Pedersen introduces Paramedic Trainee, Gemma Armit, Midwife, Margaret Martin, and Emergency Rescue Officer Patrick Martin, a new breed of Indigenous health care professionals working on the frontline of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health. Episode one includes real emergencies from the discovery of a semiconscious man found on the side of the road, an over water helicopter rescue and a mother in active labour with a baby in distress.

I Heart My People (Episode 2)

Continuing on from episode one Margaret the midwife must move quickly to protect mother and child, Patrick the Emergency rescue Officer is called to transport a critically ill patient to Cairns and Gemma (Paramedic Trainee) attends an assault in an at times dangerous neighbourhood at 2am. Three new characters are introduced Dr Sarah working in the emergency department, remote Aboriginal Health Worker, Stanley and Sports Massage Therapist Jeremy.

I Heart My People (Episode 3)

The series come to a climatic resolution as each of our Indigenous health workers reflect on their own lives and personal journeys.
