Flinders University Library offers a work experience program to introduce school students to the wide range of career opportunities available in an academic library.
Students will gain a practical understanding of the different types of work (e.g. customer service, purchasing, creation of teaching materials, social media etc.) that are undertaken in an academic library through involvement with various projects, undertaking selected tasks and meeting with different teams to discuss job roles and career pathways.
Applications for high school work experience must be submitted through our online form. University students studying library and information management should instead contact Office of the Library for information about project or placement opportunities.
Work experience placements are arranged as part of a recognised work experience program in an Australian secondary school.
The program is available to Year 10, Year 11, or Year 12 students. All students participating must be able to travel to the Flinders University Bedford Park Campus.
Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students are strongly encouraged to apply and one position from each intake will be available for students who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
