Emeritus Professor Anthony Radford AM was Foundation Professor of Primary Care and Community Medicine at Flinders University. He worked as a consultant in international health, an emergency physician in a repatriation hospital, and as a general practice locum in rural South Australia. He conducted an annual Summer School for health professionals on furlough or preparing for medical mission in less resourced areas. He is a former chairman of the Christian Medical and Dental Fellowship of Australia and a former vice-president of the International Christian Medical and Dental Association. Emeritus Professor Anthony Radford AM was recognised in the Queen’s Birthday 2019 Honours List for significant service to medicine, to medical education, and to global health.
The Anthony Radford Collection contains original working correspondence, minutes of various meetings for the Department of Primary Care and Community Medicine and the Aged Care Advisory Committee; correspondence with the World Health Organisation; a small amount of digital photographs; copies of articles from various authors mainly on the topics of immunisation in Australia and overseas, psychiatry and social work.
The extent of the Collection is 5.5 metres of shelving, ranging between the years 1926 and 1990. It was donated to the Library in 2006, with subsequent donations in 2010 and 2013.
