David C. Corbett was Professor and faculty head of Politics at Flinders University in South Australia from 1966 to 1977. He then became one of the three full-time Commissioners of the South Australian Public Service Commission. He had been Chairman of the Committee of Enquiry into the South Australian Public Service (1973-75) at the invitation of then premier, Don Dunstan, while still at Flinders. He held the role of Commissioner until 1982 and later returned to an academic career part-time, teaching and writing well into his seventies. David Corbett died at the age of 85 in Canberra in July 2010.
The David C. Corbett Papers Collection includes Flinders University lectures and correspondence, addresses and lectures to organisations outside the University, a review of the Graduate Program in Policy and Administration, and his autobiography. They span the years 1965-ca. 2002. The papers were donated to Flinders University Library by his daughter, Joan Corbett.
