As part of our commitment to the Flinders University’s Reconciliation Action plan, Flinders University Library has been granted permission to use Kaurna wording by Kaurna Warra Karrpanthi (KWK).
Ngutungka, meaning “place of knowledge”, reflects our values of shared knowledge, community, and unity. This name not only enriches the identity of our Library but also symbolises our dedication to diversity and inclusivity.
Knowledge sharing and story-telling play a central role in Indigenous culture. By providing access to information for teaching, learning and research, the library shares knowledge to help students learn and produce new knowledge through research.
In conjunction with our artwork by local Indigenous artist Lawson Dodd “Journey into the heart of knowledge”, Ngutungka highlights the important role the Library plays in the university community.
