Walk-in users

Services Walk-in users

Accessing library resources online without an account

The Flinders Library walk-in service allows any non-Flinders user to access a select range of resources on any public access networked PC on campus.

This service is available for guests on any of our campuses, and staff and students at ASMS. The service is restricted to the Flinders IP range and cannot be accessed off campus.

Accessing online resources is easy

  1. Select Guest or ASMS Access below.
  2. Login using credentials.
  3. In a new tab, open the list of walk-in use databases and select a database to start.

FAQs

Q. Will this login work off campus?

A. No, the login will not work outside of the Flinders IP range.

Q. Why can't I access all databases with the walk-in user login?

A. Walk-in user access is determined by the license terms for a database. Where not approved, access cannot be provided as part of the walk-in service.

Q. I am trying to use a database on the list and I still can't access the article. How do I fix this?

A. If you go to a database on the list and can’t access an article, see if there is an option to limit to subscribed content (usually called something like "Only content I have access to").

Q. What happens if I try to use these credentials off campus, or try to access a database that isn't covered?

A. You will get an error advising the resource is restricted.

  • If on campus, go back to the walk-in use database list and select a database here.
  • If on campus, you will not have access to resources using the walk-in service. You will need to come on campus, or if you are a student or staff, use your Flinders credentials to access resources.
